OK... I just spent a crazy wad of coin on a breast pump. WHAT???? And I was informed that I needed to spend even more to "enhance" the experience. I need to buy a hands free bra and a car charger so I can pump on the go.
So soon I will experience what milk cows do when they step in to the ring for their milking. Can't wait! (not)

Movin' on up!
Ultrasound results have my due date moved up to Oct. 20!!!!!!! YAY because I am really getting uncomfortable. My hips and my right but cheek feel like someone is drilling a screw through my nerve that travels down my right leg and I am beginning to walk like an 80 year old who just crapped their pants.
In other good news - monkey is healthy, happy and active. We also discovered that she is not cooperative at all and doesn't like to have her picture taken, but different from 20 weeks has unfortunately begun preferring to show her labia to the camera instead of her face. Should I be worried?? Guess I can go ahead and get the pink stuff out - monkey is definitely a girl!

27 Week Monkey Checkup
So... my fundus is big. WTF? Of course it is... I'm fat! Anyway, the doc states I'm measuring a bit a head so I am going for an ultrasound on Thursday to get more accurate measurements.
Other than that... everything went well. BP is normal. Monkey's HR is good.
A week ago I had a weird flare up of high blood pressure and as I called the, Keilbasa feet. You know how a Keilbasa looks when you put it on the grill and it puffs up and starts looking like it is going to crack open and explode at any second?? Well... that is what my feet looked like all of the sudden.
Turns out it was just related to stress more than likely and being on my feet all day shooting a wedding in the heat. There was a lot of stress that week. Our kitchen was temporarily decommissioned while we waited for our new countertops, dishwasher and sink to be installed. Oh... and did I mention that this no kitchen business happened when we had house guests? Oye... not fun trying to entertain and have your only workspace on top of the stove!

23 Week Monkey Checkup
Had my routine check-up today at 23 weeks. BP is great, Monkey HR is great at 155 and everything looks wonderful. I have to go for my Glucose Tolerance test next week. Drinking yucky stuff and waiting for an hour (and hoping that I can keep it down if it is really nasty) does not really sound like fun but on the other hand neither does gestational diabetes and a huge baby! Next appointment is July 26th. The doc says we might sneak in another quick ultrasound for fun and to ease my mind on the monkey sex, even though she is 99% sure she has no dangly parts! It will be so awesome to see how she has changed at that point, which will be 8 weeks since my last ultrasound. YAY!!
Monkey Movement
The monkey girl gave me my first scare on Friday. I know it is nothing - especially if you ask Jay (who tells me that I worry too much and watch too much TV), but I went almost a whole day without noticing any movement. Since I have been feeling her for more than a month daily, hourly even, not feeling anything was quite the shocker. It was almost 3 and I had not eaten lunch yet so after a quick trip to McAlisters for a sammy and an iced tea the monkey finally got worked up. I guess she was hungry!!! I had a little chat with her and informed her that it made Mommy worry very much and to never scare me like that again!! Think she'll listen?? :-)

Girl trouble
I've already discovered one reason that having a girl is dangerous. SHOPPING! The day we found out that Monkey was a girl, my mom and I hit the stores and bought a ton of girlie outfits. I have also now ordered her crib bedding, the coordinating bedding for the full sized bed that will be in her room, and adorable hat from Etsy and a special outfit that Daddy will love for Monkey to come home from the hospital in. My mind is possessed with thoughts of the nursery design, adorable dresses and girl items. Who knows what the damage totals will be in another 18 weeks when she arrives!! Oye...

Drum Roll Please....
And... it's a HEALTHY BABY GIRL!!!!
Everybody told us. I don't think there was one who said that they thought it was a boy. I figured that since everyone thought girl it would FOR SURE be a boy.
My mom and my sister accompanied Jay and I to our appointment. As I laid down on the table, I asked them all if they were going to cry. My replied "you never know" and immediately after I began to bawl. This bawling did not stop until we got in the car. As soon as I saw our precious little baby - full of life - I lost it. I never thought I that I could love something so much that I would be willing to give my own life for her even before she is here.
She started with my anatomy - cervix and placenta are good. No placenta previa and it is in a good location (upper left). The brain looks good - shape and size of head are spot on. No cleft lip/pallate. Spine measures great and looks good - no spina bifida. Heart has 4 chambers and was beating at 148 bpm. Saw the stomach, kidneys, bladder - everything looks good. 2 arms/2 legs. Monkey is a MOVER, which we, or at least I knew already hence the name Monkey. She was kicking and punching and had her arms up by her face most of the time sucking her thumb. Finally - then gender ruling (after, of course, the customary "nothing is 100% until the baby is born" speech). Her ruling... "looks like girl parts to me". Let's hope so!!!!
It was without a doubt the most wonderful, amazing, spectacular, heart wrenching, beautiful thing I have every experienced in my life. The happiest day of my life... to date that is!
My doctors office just got their new 3d/4d machine so we were fortunate enough to get a couple of face shots. I'm sure to others, she looks alien like, but I think she is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. I AM IN LOVE and can't wait to meet her.
Of course mom and I could not resist taking a shopping trip after the appointment where Miss Monkey obtained a TON of clothes thanks to an awesome sale a Kohl's. I have also ordered the bedding so I can get started on the Monkey cage.
Next appointment - June 28th where they will be scheduling my glucose tolerance test. YUK.
